In order for our funders to see our work in action, every year we match them with corps members and alumni teachers in our region as part of our Sponsor A Teacher program. Throughout the year, our teachers write letters to their “sponsors” about their experiences. In turn, sponsors engage with our teachers by visiting their classroom, connecting with them at an event, hosting them for a meal, or simply renewing their gift to Teach For America.
Over the course of the year, participants will send three letters: an introduction, a mid-year update, and an end of year reflection. In addition to writing letters, participants may be asked to attend outreach events and welcome funders to their classrooms.
In addition to regular program communications, all participants will be assigned a staff member who will be their touch-point throughout the Sponsor A Teacher process. They will review letters before they are submitted to donors and answer any and all questions.
